When: Friday and Saturday.
Where: Firestone High School.
Format: There will be 14 weight classes with wrestlers placing first through eighth in their respective class honored.
Schedule: Friday—Wrestling begins at 3 p.m. with two championship rounds and two consolation rounds. Saturday—Wrestling starts at 10 a.m. with two championship rounds, four consolation rounds. Seventh and eighth place matches will be held in the afternoon. A Parade of Champions will take place at 5:45 p.m. Wrestling for first through sixth places will begin at 6 p.m.
Notebook: Brecksville has won four team Dies championships in a row and has two No. 1 seeds, sophomore Austin Assad at 106 pounds and senior Aaron Assad at 113. . . . Barberton has two No. 1 seeds, seniors Aaron Tschantz (195) and Vernon Rowe (220). Tschantz and Rowe both won Dies titles last year and guided the Magics to second as a team. . . . There are six other area wrestlers seeded No. 1; Canton South senior D.J. Schoeppner (126), Woodridge senior Pat Dickinson (138), Norwayne sophomore Kollin Moore (152), Garrettsville junior Aaron Yonker (170), Revere senior Stephen Suglio (182) and Chippewa’s Zack Srock (285). . . . The 195-pound weight class figures to be a class to watch closely with Highland senior Adam Kluk and Cuyahoga Falls senior Joe Repasky seeded second and third, respectively, behind Tschantz. . . . Schoeppner, Kluk and Srock won Dies titles last year. . . . Other local wrestlers who are seeded second are Barberton senior Sonny Shump (132), Archbishop Hoban senior Michael Belknap (145), Norwayne senior Kurt Moore (160), Rootstown junior Travis Linton (170), Rootstown senior Jake Moore (220) and Manchester junior Jake Hanzel (285). . . . Brunswick, Buchtel, Buckeye, Copley, Coventry, Firestone, GlenOak, Green, Kenmore, Kent Roosevelt, Mogadore, Norton, Springfield, Stow, Tallmadge, Twinsburg will also have wrestlers competing.
