Buchtel Hoopsters May Get a Break
High school hoops fans who are fans of Buchtel and St. Vincent-Mary have reason to celebrate - the Ohio High School Athletic Association has separated the two teams in the upcoming sectional tournament.
Buchtel has been moved to the Stow-Munroe Falls site, while the Irish will remain in Canton. It's a move that will ensure that the two teams meet further down the line in the tournament.
''Honestly it's good in the sense we'll save a better mtach in the tournament down the line,'' Irish coach Dru Joyce said. ''It's all good for the fans and the kids.''
It may be a smart move in an ultra local kind of way, but Joyce still would prefer more significant changes such as going to superdistricts across all of the Northeast Ohio region, something that would go a long way in an ensuring the best teams made it to the Final Four.
For the record, Buchtel will go in to the Stow-Munroe Falls Sectional. Here's a full list of teams:
