Buchtel and Firestone will continue their friendly rivalry Friday in the City Series track and field championships at Ellet.
And they will continue it in football and several other sports next year too.
The Griffins and Falcons both feature several talented players that college football coaches and recruiters will keep tabs on in 2014.
Buchtel coach Ricky Powers said Deric Rucker, Tavaris Bushner, Terrance Gainer, Brandon Dixon and Marquis Sims are seniors-to-be who are receiving interest from colleges.
Rucker is a 6-foot-2 and 180-pound defensive back and wide receiver. He has scholarship offers from Toledo, Cincinnati and Bowling Green. Several other Mid-American Conference schools are also interested.
Bushner, Gainer and Dixon also play as defensive backs and wide receivers, and are being scouted by colleges. Sims is a running back colleges are interested in.
Firestone coach Tim Flossie said Jovhan Fair, Bryce Harris and Rodney Austin are seniors-to-be that are generating interest from colleges.
Harris and Fair are both linemen on offense and defense, and Austin is a wide receiver and defensive back.
Harris is 6-foot-4 and 275-pounds. He holds scholarship offers from the University of Akron, Kent State, Toledo, Buffalo, Bowling Green and Western Michigan.
Fair is 6-foot-4 and 280-pounds. He has been offered a scholarship from Ohio University and Ohio Dominican for football, and is also being evaluated as a wrestler.
