Copley High School will name Scott Chouinard as head football coach at 6 p.m. tonight at a Board Meeting, says athletic director Jim Borchik.
Borchik said Chouinard has served as an assistant at Kent Roosevelt for the past seven seasons (one under Ed Becker and six under John Nemec).
Chouinard has been the Rough Riders defensive coordinator and also their offensive coordinator.
Chouinard is a graduate of Kent Roosevelt and the College of Wooster, and played quarterback at both schools.
He also served as an assistant coach at Northwestern High School for three seasons.
Chouinard play his sophomore and junior years at Roosevelt with Nemec as coach and then played his senior year with Joe Vassalotti as coach. Vassalotti is currently Tallmadge’s coach.
“We are really excited for Scott,” Nemec said. “He was the first sophomore we started at quarterback.
“He is an outstanding football coach and person. He coordinated offense for me and last year he coordinated the defense. He is very thorough and he likes kids. He is a good one. We will miss him terribly.”
