Copley High School senior Danny Beaton has committed to play baseball at St. Bonaventure University.
Beaton, 18, plays second base for the Indians. He said the Bonnies recruited him as a middle midfielder.
“I definitely thought the coaching staff was awesome when I visited with them,” Beaton said. “The school is great and the baseball field is super nice. It is all turf. Baseball is one of the biggest sports on the campus, and there is a lot of excitement surrounding the program. They have a winning tradition and I am excited to be part of it.”
Beaton, who is 5-foot-10 and 165 pounds, will be entering his third season on the Copley varsity baseball team and his second year as a starter. He has a 3.4 grade-point average. He also considered Lake Erie College, Gannon University and Baldwin Wallace University.
“When I visited St. Bonaventure I knew that is where I want to go for baseball,” Beaton said. “Once they assured me of a roster spot, I made my commitment.”
