Walsh Jesuit senior-to-be RB-DB Cameron Ontko (6-0, 215) has five scholarship offers as of this morning. He has offers from Georgia Tech, Wisconsin, Indiana, Eastern Michigan and Bowling Green.

There could be more offers on the way for Ontko, one of the state's top players in the 2010 class.

Orrville senior WR-DB Sam Miller (6-0, 183) has been offered by Western Michigan, according to ScoutingOhio.com. Miller also has offers from Louisville and Toledo.

Massillon senior-to-be OT Jeff Myers has orally committed to play at Toledo, according to ScoutingOhio.com.

Myers, who is 6-2 and 289 pounds, reportedly made the commitment recently, according to the Web site.

Louisville senior WR Bobby Swigert (6-1, 175) has received an offer from Stanford, according to ScoutingOhio.com.

Swigert also reportedly has offers from Boston College, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Colorado, Toledo, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Indiana, Akron, Miami (Ohio), Ball State, Kent State and Bowling Green.

Tiffin University’s softball program has added two area commitments from the 2009 class.

Fox College Sports will broadcast the medal games of the Junior World Championship at Fawcett Stadium the weekend of July 4. Charles Davis will be the lead analyst for the games.

The bronze medal game is July 4 at 7 p.m. The gold medal game is July 5 at 1 p.m. The gold medal game will also be streamed live on FoxCollegeSports.com.

St. Vincent-St. Mary junior-to-be RB-DB Doran Grant (5-11, 175) has offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech and Cincinnati, according to ScoutingOhio.com.

Grant is one of the state's top players in the  2011 class.

Barberton senior-to-be QB Kyle Snyder (6-1, 207) has reportedly been offered by Ohio University, according to ScoutingOhio.com.

Former NFL standout linebacker Chris Spielman will speak to the Team USA football team on Tuesday night at Walsh University.

Spielman, a two-time All-American at Ohio State, will address the team as it prepares for its first game on Saturday at Fawcett Stadium.

There is expected to be a TV announcement early this week regarding coverage of the Team USA football games in the junior world championships in Canton.

Jeff Harrison was recently approved as the Medina High School athletic director after serving in the same position at Cuyahoga Falls.

Harrison, 33, said he was officially board approved by Medina on Monday June 2.

Cuyahoga Falls athletic director Jeff Harrison has been named the new AD at Medina, according to a report from the Cuyahoga Falls News Press.

Eleven area athletes were selected to play in all-star football games that will be played Saturday.

Marlington graduate Allen Strouble has committed to play football and baseball at Malone University. Strouble lettered four years in baseball, four years in basketball and two years in football at Marlington.

Wadsworth senior-to-be WR Anthony Schrock has reportedly added an offer from Bowling Green, according to ScoutingOhio.com. Schrock also has an offer from Akron.

Garfield senior-to-be RB Tyson Gulley (5-9, 175) has been offered by Marshall, according to ScoutingOhio.com. Gulley also has several other MAC offers.

He also has offers from Syracuse and Kansas.

The state softball finals will remain at Firestone Stadium through 2017, the OHSAA announced today. The originial three-year contract was extended to 10 years to host the tournament.

The state finals, which included four divisions and 12 games, drew 10,182 fans through the turnstiles June 4-6.

Five recent high school graduates from the Akron Beacon Journal's five-county coverage area were selected in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft.

Cuyahoga Heights junior QB Zach D’Orazio has been offered by Akron, according to ScoutingOhio.com.

Lake High School senior Nikki VanRiper has committed to attend Mount Union College and compete on the softball team this fall.

Massillon Washington High School senior Thomas McCarthy has committed to attend Mount Union College and compete on the baseball team.

Cincinnati Walnut Hills junior center Tayler Stanton has orally committed to play for the Kent State women's basketball program, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Stanton averaged 9.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks last season. She also considered Seton Hall, Toledo, Bowling Green and Youngstown State.

Louisville junior WR Bobby Swigert (6-1, 175) has been offered by Nebrasksa, according to ScoutingOhio.com. Swigert has several other offers.

Northwest junior RB Evan Bach (5-10, 185) has received an offer from Dartmouth, according to ScoutingOhio.com.

The University of Akron has offered a scholarship to Cincinnati Withrow junior OLB Anthony Berry (5-11, 195), according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Berry will be a senior this fall. It's his first offer.

Nordonia senior catcher Allison Ross has committed to play softball at Mount Union. Ross earned three letters and was a two-time defensive player of the year at Nordonia.

The Hudson softball team defeated Cincinnati Colerain 3-0 in a Division I state semifinal softball game at Firestone Stadium today.

Hudson next plays Elyria or Hilliard Darby in the state final at 10 a.m. Saturday at Firestone Stadium.

Two Lake Center Christian seniors have committed to play baseball in college.

Shane Byler will play for Malone University. Erick Locker will play for Grove City College (Pa.).

St. Vincent-St. Mary senior OT/DE Nate Nasrallah (6-0, 235) has signed to play football at Malone University. Nasrallah was a Division IV all-district nominee twice and was the SVSM  co-leader with nine sacks for the Irish in 2008. He was second on the team with 69 tackles.

Nasrallah has a 3.9 GPA and lettered three years in wrestling and twice in baseball.

The Hudson vs. Cincinnati Colerain Division I state softball semifinal will be played at 10 a.m. Thursday at Firestone Stadium. The game was originally scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

Kent State has offered Archbishop Moeller junior tight end David Schneider (6-3, 245), according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. He also has offers from Toledo and Ball State.

        CVCA senior Mark O’Brien has committed to play basketball career at Houghton College.

Louisville junior WR Bobby Swigert (6-1, 175) has been offered by Wisconsin, according to ScoutingOhio.com.
