The Orrville football team made the Division IV playoffs this past fall and coach Doug Davault believes the postseason will still be a legitimate goal in 2010.
Orrville loses 17 seniors to graduation (12 starters plus the punter, placekicker, long snapper, punt returner and kickoff returners). The team has to replace five players on offense and seven on defense. Also, the team will lose the top three receivers, QB, defensive line and all but one in the defensive secondary.
Despite all that, Davault said Orrville returns four of five offensive linemen and the team's tailback (1,000 yards this past season).
"We will be young, but we should be competitive," Davault said in an e-mail. "Playoffs will still be a legitimate goal."
Orrville's top returners include senior TB-DB Tre Simpson, senior TE-LB Max Pirman, senior OL-DL Daniel Groves, senior OL-DL Sam Reusser, senior WR-DB Cody Rice, junior RB-LB Mason Monheim, junior WR-DB Drew Brenner and junior RB-LB Matt Davis.
Priman and Monheim have been receiving Division I college interest, Davault said.
