Federal League football notes

By jcfortun Published: August 13, 2009

Just talked to GlenOak coach Scott Garcia a few minutes ago. here is a quick write up/season preview:

GlenOak has another solid group of offensive skill players returning for this, but football is won in the trenches.

So, that is precisely where GlenOak coach Scott Garcia is watching. The Golden Eagles have one returning starter each along the defensive and offensive lines; senior nose guard Zach Rinehart and senior offensive tackle Jake Converse.
``How far we go depends on how fast those guys develop,’’ Garcia said about the lines in general.

There is no doubt that there is talent behind them.

Senior quarterback Brandon Martin brings brains and athleticism to the position. Ivy league schools have taken notice of both. He has a 3.9 GPA, according to Garcia.

Seniors Collin Mitchell and Eric Osborne will be joined in the backfield by sophomore Brionte Dunn, a transfer student from Alliance. At 6-foot-1, 215 pounds, he brings a combination of size and speed to the position, Garcia said.
