Three area athletes have qualified for the first Ohio High School Athletic Association State Track and Field Wheelchair Championships in Columbus.

There are 10 total boys and one girl scheduled to compete on June 8 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University.

The area boys are Kent Roosevelt sophomore Randy McMullen and Wooster sophomore Casey Followay.

The lone girl is from the area, Southeast sophomore Jenna Fesemyer.

McMullen, Followay and Fesemyer are all scheduled to compete in the 100-meter dash, the 400 and the 800. McMullen and Fesemyer will also compete in the shot put.

The OHSAA released a tentative schedule for the events: the 100 at 9:40 a.m., the shot put at noon, the 400 at 2:05 p.m. and the 800 at 5:55 p.m.

The regularly scheduled OHSAA state championship meets for boys and girls in Divisions I, II and III will be contested June 7 and 8 in conjunction with this new meet.
