The high school football season is in Week 8, and according to the state computer rankings, the area would have 20 playoff teams if the postseason started this weekend.
The area schools who are among the top eight in their region are:
In Division I: Nordonia, Massillon Washington, GlenOak, Hudson, Canton McKinley and North Canton Hoover.
In Division II: Aurora, Tallmadge, Kent Roosevelt, Copley and Marlington.
In Division III: Ravenna, Woodridge and St. Vincent-St. Mary.
In Division IV: Streetsboro, Norwayne, Triway and Northwestern.
In Division V: St. Thomas Aquinas.
In Division VI: Mogadore.
Marlington, Mogadore and Norwayne are the three remaining area undefeated teams. Norwayne won the Division IV state championship last season.
