Football preview: Firestone (1-1) @ Kent Roosevelt (2-0)
Week three: Firestone (1-1) @ Kent Roosevelt (2-0)
7 p.m. Friday at Roosevelt Stadium
Storyline: The Falcons rebounded nicely from a week one loss to Twinsburg, overpowered pass-happy Northwest and showcased some of the talent that makes the City Series so exciting this year.
Cody Grice lived up to expectations with 144 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries and followed the lead of Ohio State recruit Tommy Brown on the offensive line.
Firestone also has weapons in the passing game. Junior Timonte Anderson and sophomore Kevin Gladney each had a touchdown reception from Junior quarterback Nick Heimbaugh, who completed 9-of-13 passes for 138 yards.
Roosevelt has been on fire behind senior quarterback Evan Shimensky. The Kent State recruit already has 10 touchdowns this season, nine passing.
They steam rolled a formidable Stow team last week and blew out Kenston in week one as they are quickly looking like the team to beat in the Portage Trail Conference.
