Week three: Lake (2-0) @ Canton McKinley (2-0)
7:30 p.m. Saturday, Fawcett Stadium
Storyline: The Blue Streaks and Bulldogs meet in a Federal League matchup of undefeated teams that love to rush the football.
McKinley has compiled a 4-2 record against Lake since joining the Federal League in 2004. Ironically, the winner of this game in each of the past four years has scored 24 points.
The host Bulldogs are coming off of a 26-0 win in Week 2 over Huber Heights and a 32-14 victory in Week 1 over Gallatin (Tenn.).
Bulldogs senior running back Elijah Farrakhan rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries last week. Senior quarterback Kyle Ohradzansky threw a touchdown pass to junior Tyler Carney last week, and junior Tyler Foster rushed for the final touchdown.
Lake enters this game following victories over Hudson (34-27) in Week 2 and Green (44-14) in Week 1. Senior Jim Luther scored five touchdowns last week, four rushing and one on a 97-yard kickoff return. Luther has 10 touchdowns (eight rushing, one kickoff and one fumble return) this season and rushed for 332 yards.
McKinley's defense features a quartet of strong linemen -- juniors Steve Miller and Se'Von Pittman, and seniors Eric Snow and Terris Daniels. Miller is an Ohio State University recruit. The Bulldogs defense should be up to the challenge facing Luther, after limiting their first two opponents to 52 rushing yards on 48 carries.
Junior Corey Paulino is a key player on Lake's defense. Blue Streaks junior Jon Spohn might have to be more of a presence at quarterback due to the Bulldogs stingy defense.
McKinley's coach is Ron Johnson and Lake's coach is Jeff Durbin.
