Former Buchtel star Corey Smith commits to Ohio State for football
Former Buchtel High School standout wide receiver Corey Smith has committed to play football at Ohio State University, according to Brad Bournival of espn.com.
Smith will have two years of college eligibility remaining at OSU after playing one year apiece at East Mississippi Community College and Grand Rapids Community College.
Smith attended Barberton and Buchtel in high school. He had previously given an oral commitment to Mississippi State and was receiving heavy interest from Tennessee and other schools.
Smith helped Buchtel to a Division III state runner-up finish in 2010 under coach Ricky Powers.
Smith is ranked as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, which ranked him as the overall No. 18 junior college prospect in the country.
OSU now has 23 oral commitments in its 2013 class, with National Signing Day eight days away.
