Full list of area schools using Hudl; coaches rave about scouting software
Here some excerpts from coaches talking about Hudl that didn’t make it into the story to appear in Thursday’s Akron Beacon Journal. Below is a complete listing of the schools within the ABJ’s coverage area signed up with Hudl.
Ralph Orsini, Archbishop Hoban – “Our coach that’s taping can give it to players to view. So the coaches go home and put it on the computer and watch what happened, and he makes notes with it written or with your voice. There’s a microphone you can use. Then the kids can get that and keep running it back.”
Dan Boarman, St. Vincent St. Mary – “It’s very user friendly. I’m 60 years old, and it’s something you can get on and it just happens. Our coaches can use it, our kids can all use it. It’s made for the football coach and made for the game…Our kids can go home, and we know how much film they’re watching. We know that this kid watched 20 minutes and this kid didn’t….I haven’t driven one time this year to exchange film. It’s all online…The software does it all for ya, and it does it in your language. You input that and you get a written report.”
Ed Peltz, Kenmore – “I still go to watch most of our opponents because I like to feel what you see on video. But the convince of exchanges is so nice. You’re not worrying about DVD or problems with this or that.”
Tim Flossie, Firestone – “The beauty of it is, you can use it for your own needs. The parents can use it, the kids can use it, the colleges can use it. People don’t realize the amount of time coaches put in to do this for kids.”
Gerry Rardin, Walsh Jesuit – “It has completely changed how we operate in many areas. Our weekend routine has completely changed in this one year since we got Hudl. The ability to exchange film with opponents immediately is a huge time saver. You go from copying DVDs or in my case from copying VHS and before that film, my gosh it’s just unbelievable…Time is the biggest thing saved. I don’t think you can put a monetary value on that."
