Garfield football coach Bob Sax said Wednesday he’s been pleased with the progress the Rams have made during the first official week of practice.
“Things are going as good as they can until we get all the pads on and play real football,” Sax said.
Sax noted he likes what running back/outside linebacker Robert Lyons has been doing early this preseason. Lyons got hurt in Week 4 last year and never returned healthy.
“He was emerging as our best running back and played outside linebacker,” Sax said.
Garfield plays Barberton in a scrimmage at 10 a.m. Friday before another scrimmage with Northwest Aug. 18 at 6 p.m.
“I like the makeup of our team,” Sax said. “They are working hard.”
