Girls coach Whitmer not retained at Green
Green girls basketball coach Tony Whitmer was not retained for the upcoming season, according to Green principal Cindy Brown.
``We had some concerns with the program and we looked into it and decided it warranted a coaching change,’’ Brown told the Beacon Journal.
Whitmer was a never a teacher in the Green school system.
Whitmer, who previously coached at Hudson, spent six seasons at Green, compiling a 105-33 record. The school is immediately looking for a replacement.
OTHER GREEN NOTES: Senior quarterback Jon Cundiff is questionable for this week's game against Garfield after deeply bruising his ribs in last week's game against Lake. His mother, Kathy Cundiff, is the Green athletic office secretary.
