Akron Public Schools Manager of Interscholastic Athletics Joe Howard said Wednesday that the Ellet football team has to forfeit its 63-6 victory over rival Springfield on Friday night due to the use of an ineligible player.
Howard said coach Joe Yost discovered the error and reported it to Ellet principal Michelle Marquess-Kearns.
“It is an unfortunate situation,” Howard said. “Thank goodness that they did self-report it. Joe Yost is devastated by this, but they are looking forward to their game Friday night at Tallmadge.”
Howard said the OHSAA and Springfield have been notified about the forfeit.
