Hudson duo place second, fourth at Division I state girls dive meet
Hudson senior divers Taryn McLaughlin and Rachel Speakman stood on the awards podium together with smiles on their faces for the second consecutive year in Canton.
McLaughlin finished second in the Division I state girls 1-meter diving meet with 489.40 points Saturday at C.T. Branin Natatorium and Speakman placed fourth with 458.45 points.
Powell Olentangy Liberty sophomore Olivia Ball won the state title with 493.20 points.
Centerville junior Morgan Mullins (481.90 points) and Olentangy Liberty senior Alexandra Clay (458.10 points) were third and fifth, respectively.
Other local divers that competed Saturday were Walsh Jesuit freshman Kailey Francetic (11th), Lake senior Katie Constantine (19th), Cuyahoga Falls sophomore Nicole Rozsa (21st) and freshman Erika Shane (23rd) and Jackson senior Josie McKee (24th).
McLaughlin and Speakman were fourth and eighth, respectively, at the state meet last season.
