Jackson girls soccer quartet sign with colleges
Four Jackson High School seniors have signed to continue their academic and soccer careers. Kalynn Flanagan has signed with Ball State University. Dana Ward, Lindsey Smith and Taylor Stano have all signed with Walsh University.
Here is a bio on each player:
KALYNN FLANAGAN – Forward
Finished her Jackson career with 39 goals; was a huge catalyst in the 2012 season scoring nine goals and adding two assists in the first seven games; tallied eight game-winning goals and two game-winning assists lending her to be the overall points leader for the Polar Bears; was named to the First-Team All-Federal League, All-Stark County, All-Greater Akron District and All-Ohio.
DANA WARD – Defender
Two-year varsity starter; often asked to man-mark the opponent’s most dangerous player; had the game-winning goal versus Boardman to clinch the Federal League title for Jackson.
LINDSEY SMITH – Sweeper
Captain and four-year varsity member; dictated the tempo of the game and organized the Polar Bears from her central defensive position; was vital in cutting down many of the opponents’ most dangerous attacks and transitioned them into goal-scoring opportunities for her own team; led the Bears to a 30-3-6 record with her at the central defender position.
TAYLOR STANO – Goalkeeper
Four-year varsity member and 2012 captain; posted 11 shut-outs and 51 saves her senior season. Her .55 goals against average was a huge factor in the Polar Bears attaining an undefeated regular season. She earned All-Federal League, All-Stark County and All-Greater Akron District honors
