Ellet forfeits 63-6 win over Springfield due to use of ineligible player
Akron Public Schools Manager of Interscholastic Athletics Joe Howard said Wednesday that the Ellet football team has to forfeit its 63-6 victory over rival Springfield on Friday night due to the use of an ineligible player.
Howard said coach Joe Yost discovered the error and reported it to Ellet principal Michelle Marquess-Kearns.
“It is an unfortunate situation,” Howard said. “Thank goodness that they did self-report it. Joe Yost is devastated by this, but they are looking forward to their game Friday night at Tallmadge.”
Howard said the OHSAA and Springfield have been notified about the forfeit.

Marlington's Dymonte Thomas ranks No. 102 on Rivals list
Marlington senior defensive back Dymonte Thomas is ranked the No. 102 player nationally in the 2013 class according to Rivals.com.
Thomas, the highest-ranked area athlete of the Rivals250, is 6 feet 1 and 175 pounds. He has orally committed to Michigan.
He averaged 7.1 yards and scored 13 touchdowns on offense and had 102 tackles on defense, according to Rivals.com.

Aurora linebacker Zach Quinn commits to Toledo
Aurora senior linebacker Zach Quinn has reportedly made a verbal commitment to Toledo, according to Scout.com and 247 Sports.
Quinn, who is listed at 6 feet 4 and 215 pounds by 247 Sports, also reportedly had offers from Ball State, Buffalo and North Carolina State.
