Revere (18-0-4) vs. Dayton Carroll (22-0-0)

Pregame notebook: The Minutemen and Patriots meet for the second year in a row in the final with the Patriots seeking to defend the state title they won last year 3-2. Each team enters with no losses and both squads were impressive in state semifinal matches on Tuesday. Revere defeated Lexington 5-1, and Carroll beat Columbus St. Francis DeSales 3-0. Minutemen senior Colin Romisher scored twice against Lexington and has 23 goals in 14 matches. “Colin is definitely a gamer,” Jakab said. “He has a tremendous amount of experience and he understands what the team needs and he is able to give that to us.” Freshman Luke Kasson, sophomore Nolan Dyko and junior CJ Hlay also scored a goal in that match for Revere. Junior Trae’ Collins scored two goals in Carroll’s state semifinal and senior Matthew Barnes added one goal. Barnes and Nicholas Braun are senior co-captains. Freshman Noah Kummer is Carroll’s goalkeeper. Seniors Max Palazzo and Matt Bezbatchenko are senior co-captains for Revere, and sophomore Joel Gerberich is the goalkeeper.
History: Carroll won state titles in 1980, 2008 and 2010. … The Patriots haven’t lost in 35 matches, with their last setback coming against Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller in a 3-1 match on Sept. 21, 2010. … Revere was state runner-up in 1995 and 2010. … Current Carroll junior Zach Zwiesler scored a goal in last year’s final and graduated seniors Carl Petkoff and Justin Chu also scored a goal. Revere’s goal scorers in that match were Romisher and graduated senior Ben Deighton.

Defenders: Senior Max Palazzo, senior Matt Bezbatchenko, junior Drew Kimberly, sophomore Brandon Taylor and freshman Brady Tieland.

Forwards: Senior Colin Romisher, junior Mike Santucci and sophomore Nolan Dyko.

Carroll is the No. 1 ranked team in the Division II state coaches poll and Revere is No. 2.

Junior forward Eric Zeno enters the Revere lineup in the seventh minute.
Senior forward Neil Taylor enters the Revere lineup in the 11th minute.
Carroll senior midfielder Austin Neumeier takes the first corner kick of the match in the 14th minute. Gerberich catches the ball on the fly in front of the goal.
Carroll sophomore forward Eric Austria takes a corner kick, but it results in nothing in the 20th minute.
Neither team has a shot on goal midway through the first half.
Kimberly kicks a shot for Revere over the top of the goal in the 21st minute.
Junior midfielder Clay Malyj enters the Revere lineup in the 27th minute.
Carroll has amped up its offensive attack. Senior Matthew Barnes takes a shot wide right in the 31st minute, junior Trae' Collin boots a shot wide right in the 35th minute and sophomore Quincy Pope has a shot go off the right post in the 36th minute. Collins takes another shot wide left in the 37th minue.

Junior forward Trae' Collins gives the Patriots a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 38th minute. Collins kicked the ball to the lower right of the goal from about 12 yards out. Junior midfielder Zach Zwiesler got the assist after displaying some fancy dribbling through a couple of Minutemen defenders.
HALFTIME ... Carroll 1, Revere 0

Neumeier takes a corner kick in the 42nd minute and nothing comes of it.
Santucci puts a shot on goal for Revere in the 45th minute. That is the first shot on goal for the Minutemen.
Tieland take a shot on goal in the 48th minute, Revere's second of the match.
Zwiesler puts a shot on goal in the 51st minute and senior Kyle O'Brien gets a shot on goal in the 52nd minute. Each are saved.
Patriots junior Patrick Raiff places a shot over the top of the cross bar in the 60th minute.
Senior Nicholas Braun puts a shot on goal in the 66th minute following a corner kick.

Senior defender Matthew Barnes extends the Patriots lead to 2-0 with a goal off of a penalty kick in the 68th minute. Revere was called for a hand ball inside the box.

Senior midfielder Austin Neumeier makes the score 3-0 with a goal in the 77th minute.
