Live from Columbus - State Wrestling Tournament
Here is an update from the 72nd annual State Wrestling Tournament at Value City Arena on the campus of Ohio State University.
Here is a list of area wrestlers by weight class that won their championship preliminary match Thursday and then won their championship quarterfinal and championship semifinal matches Friday. These wrestlers will compete Saturday night in championship matches.
These wrestlers are one victory from winning a state title.
Division I
Sam White, Sr., Perry, 40-1 at 125.

Division I – Lakewood St. Edward leads the team standings through Friday with 93.5 points. Perry is second with 73 points and has two wrestlers competing for a state title. Perry senior Sam White won a Division I state title in 2007 at 103 pounds. Wadsworth is fifth at 47 points.
Division II – St. Paris Graham Local leads the team standings through Friday with 221 points. Aurora junior Ty Mitch won a Division II state title in 2008 at 112 pounds. Walsh Jesuit is fifth in the standings with 39 points and has two wrestlers competing for a state title.

Division III – Troy Christian leads the team standings through Friday with 98 points. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy is third with 79 points and has two wrestlers competing for a state title.
