Division I girls basketball state championship game
Saturday night at Value City Arena in Columbus

Notes: The Tigers are the defending Division I state champions and ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press state poll. The Firebirds are ranked No. 10 in the AP state poll and were state runnerup to the Tigers last season by a 55-42 score. Earlier this season, Twinsburg defeated Kettering Fairmont 56-49. Twinsburg has won 45 consecutive games against Ohio opponents.

Starting Lineups
Twinsburg – Ashley Morrissette, Malina Howard, Leah Fechko, LaShawna Gatewood and Nichole Mabry.

Kettering Fairmont – Shea Morgan, Chelsea Welch, Makayla Waterman, Alona Skipper and Kathryn Westbeld.

First quarter

The game starts with the tipoff at 8:33 p.m. Fairmont control the tap.

Twinsburg leads 7-2 with 4:32 to go in the quarter.

Morrissette swishes a 3-pointer. Tigers up 10-2 midway through the first quarter.

The Tigers lead 14-2 with 2:33 to go in the first quarter following a layup by Gatewood and a layup by Howard.

Twinsburg leads 15-3 at the end of the quarter. The Tigers made 6-of-14 shots from the field and had two tunovers. The Firebirds converted 1-of-7 shots from the field and committed six turnovers.

All five Twinsburg starters scored points in the first quarter.

Second quarter

Tigers advantage grows to 17-3 early in the quarter. Westbeld scores six points in a row to help Firebirds trim their deficit to 17-9.

Twinsburg leads 21-9 with 4:43 to go in the quarter. Tigers are 9-of-18 from the field and have committed three turnovers. Firebirds are 3-of-10 and have committed nine turnovers.

Westbeld is keeping Fairmont in the game. She has 13 points in the quarter.

Twinsburg leads 26-20 at halftime.

Third quarter

Firebirds trim deficit to 26-24, Tigers extend lead to 30-24 with baskets by Morrissette and Fechko. 1:59 to go in the quarter.

Twinsburg up 34-26 with under a minute to go in the third quarter following a Mabry 3-pointer.

Tigers lead 34-30 at the end of the third quarter.

Tigers senior boys basketball player AJ Edwards made a dunk and half-court 3-pointer to win a gas card inbetween quarters.

Fourth quarter

Firebirds cut their deficit to two points twice, but the Tigers respond and up 40-36 with 4:46 to go in the fourth quarter. Howard has six points in the quarter and 12 for the game along with six rebounds and two blocks.

Timeout on the floor. 2:53 to go. Twinsburg up 45-40. Morrissette has scored five points in a row for the Tigers.

1:38 to go. Twinsburg up 47-42.

Morrissette makes two free throws. Twinsburg up 49-44. 1:27 to go in the fourth quarter.

Morrissette makes two more free throws. Twinsburg up 51-46. 1:06 to go in the fourth quarter.

Morrissette makes two more free throws. Twinsburg up 53-46. 52.5 seconds to go in the fourth quarter.

Twinsburg defeats Fairmont 57-51 to win second consecutive Division I state championship.
