Federal League changes kickoff times

By Michael Beaven Published: March 27, 2012

The Federal League will start its football games at 7 p.m. this upcoming season, a half hour earlier than the 7:30 p.m. kickoffs, Lake Athletic Director Bruce Brown confirmed.

“Some of the area leagues and schools have been starting to move in that direction,” Brown said. “Over the years there have been concerns over students traveling late at night. A lot of students travel to the games in our league. It seems like games, for whatever reason, seem to go longer. That is not a negative. I don’t have an answer for that, but we have a lot of kids traveling after games that end around 9:30 or 10 and then the kids are not getting home until 11 or 11:30. Starting a half hour earlier will get that home earlier.”
