Medina faces ultimate nemesis Friday - Strongsville
There is a good feeling these days at The Bee Hive. Medina completed its independent portion of its schedule at 3-2 after a 30-14 win over Normandy.
"We are having fun just throwing the ball all over the place," says Battling Bees coach Greg Reed.
Now comes the dreaded away game for this program, which has reached the state playoffs just once - Strongsville. The Mustangs are 1-4 and just coming off its first win, 31-3 over Lakewood.
"The year our quarterback Jim Lavery was a senior (1998) and we were 8-2, they beat us 35-34 on a missed extra point. Even in our playoff year (2006), we had a 14-7 lead at halftime, then we gave up a punt return for a touchdown and everything fell apart," Reed says. "This week we are stressing ball security to make sure we don't give them turnovers that hurt us."
