New football divisions would affect half of our local high schools
The Ohio High School Athletic Association has added a seventh division for football for 2013. The Beacon Journal’s area schools are listed by 2012 divisions with number of boys enrolled in 2012 and new division classification (based on current enrollment and could change before 2013 season) in parenthesis. With the projected numbers, 38 of our five-county schools would move divisions.
The projected new enrollment breakdowns based on number of boys in the high school are as follows:
Division I: 600 to 1,164
Division II: 410 to 599
Division III: 288 to 409
Division IV: 216 to 287
Division V: 159 to 215
