Coaches propose football workouts in spring: The football coaches association made a proposal that would allow member school coaches to conduct non-mandatory individual skill development workouts with players during the last two weeks of May. The workouts would be a maximum of 10 total hours and would include helmets but no other pads. Athletes currently participating in an OHSAA spring sport would be required to complete their season before participating in these workouts. The Board will take action on the proposal at its April meeting.
Replay in effect for hockey: The OHSAA Board of Directors adopted a proposal from the ice hockey advisory team to allow the use of video replay during the state semifinals and state finals at Nationwide Arena to review goals and the correct time on the clock.
Concussion clarification: The Board approved clarification and an expanded explanation of the OHSAA’s existing concussion policy. The updated policy will be posted at OHSAA.org and communicated to schools during upcoming rules interpretation meetings and in other communications.
