The Orrville football team (2-1) plays at Lexington at 7 p.m. Friday and Orrville coach Doug Davault said his team is looking forward to the game despite a 34-33 double overtime loss to Copley last week.
"We told the team it will be crucial how we respond to the loss," Davault said. "That will be the true measure of this team."
Lexington (3-0) is No. 7 in the Division II state poll this week.
"Lexington is good, athletic and physical," Davault said. "We need to contain their athletes and take care of the ball on offense."
Davault said Orrville players Mason Monheim (LB/RB), Sam Reusser (OL/DL), Derek Graber (OL/DL), Daniel Groves (OL), Trevor White (DL), Max Pirman (LB/Indiana commit), Drew Brenner (WR/DB), Wally Woods (strong safety), Cody Rice (TE/strong safety) and Tre Simpson (RB/DB) are playing well.
Simpson carried the ball 33 times for 183 yards and two touchdowns against Copley. He also took every snap on defense as a defensive back.
"Tre was a beast last week," Davault said.
Davault said Simpson is receiving Mid-American Conference interest along with other college programs. Monheim went to Michigan two weeks ago and is getting Big Ten looks, Davault said.
