Two area football players in the 2013 class are listed on the Rivals.com 250 list today.
Marlington defensive back Dymonte Thomas, who is verbally committed to Michigan, is ranked No. 95 nationally.

Firestone's Kevin Gladney will reportedly visit Nebraska
Firestone junior wide receiver Kevin Gladney will reportedly visit Nebraska on June 11, according to 247 Sports.
Gladney, one of the state’s top players in the 2013 class, also has offers from Iowa, Michigan State, Akron, Cincinnati and others, according to the website. He is listed at 6 feet 2 and 175 pounds, according to ScoutingOhio.com.

Updates from boys state tennis: Sandberg on to semifinals, Dunbar falls
Walsh sophomore Aaron Sandberg will need that hotel room in Columbus after all.
Sandberg downed Stuart Little of Upper Arlington 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the state semifinals Saturday morning where Westlake senior Colton Buffington awaits. Sandberg and Buffington have played twice before, with Buffington winning both matches.

Updates from Boys State Tennis; North Canton Hoover ousted
Both of North Canton Hoover's double teams lost in the first round Friday. Juniors Rob DeMarco and Mike O'Connor lost to Mason 6-1, 6-0 and the team of senior Tyler Sarver and sophomore Tim Bruin lost to Upper Arlington 6-2, 6-0. Hoover coach Ryan Shaffer talked about his young squad being pushed into starting roles after graduating five seniors from last year's team.
"It was kinda unexpected, truthfully," Shaffer said of his teams making it to the state tournament. "All of these guys moved up in positions that were very challenging for them. For them to ultimately break through and mesh like they did at the end of the year and make the state tournament is a tremendous accomplishment. Going forward, we have some things to look forward to."

Updates from Boys State Tennis: Dunbar, Sandberg advance
Walsh sophomore Aaron Sandberg defeated Dugan Delp of Toledo Central Catholic 6-1, 6-4 and Cloverleaf sophomore Jacob Dunbar took down Marc Sodini of Wilmington 6-1, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals.
Dunbar said the first round of a tournament can sometimes be the hardest, and that he's not thinking about last year's four place finish.

Shaker Heights junior athlete DeNiro Laster has reportedly been offered by the University of Akron football program, according to ScoutingOhio.com.
Laster, who is 6 feet 4 and 220 pounds, also has offers from Cincinnati, Toledo, Buffalo, Bowling Green and Temple.

13 of 14 referendum issues passed by OHSAA; competitive balance fails again
Commissioner Daniel B. Ross announced today that all but one of the 14 proposed Ohio High School Athletic Association Constitution and Bylaw revisions passed as voted on by OHSAA member schools.
The failing "competitive balance" bylaw was a proposal to change how schools are assigned to tournament divisions in six sports—football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball and soccer.

Green High School Principal Cindy Brown said Thursday that she is recommending Bruce Johnson as Athletic Director to Superintendent Michael Nutter.
Nutter and the Green Board of Education will meet May 21 and on the agenda is the hiring of the Bulldogs Athletic Director
