No. 6 Columbus St. Charles (5-4) at No. 3 Uniontown Lake (7-3)
Division II, region 7
Where: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Lake Stadium
STORYLINE It’s hard to argue with Lake’s resume, a Division II school with impressive victories against playoff teams Canton McKinley and Austintown Fitch in the always tough Federal League.
The losses to Hoover and Perry could be looked at as puzzling, unless one knows the history injury of this year’s Blue Streaks.
Senior running back Jim Luther was supposed to be done for the season wit ha knee injury and missed those games. He suffered the injury against McKinley and has since returned.
Top receiver Logan Wartman spent, at least, the Hoover game on the sideline, using crutches.
And junior tight end/defensive back Corey Paulino was carted off the field and taken to the hospital after delivering a vicious hit on a wide receiver in the Hoover game.
When healthy, Lake is as good as anyone.
Columbus St. Charles’ four-game losing streak to end the season is a bit deceiving. Columbus St Francis DeSales (5-5), Ursuline (10-0), Bishop Watterson (8-1), and Jonathan Alder (9-1) are all playoff teams in their respective divisions.
Bishop Watterson has beaten both teams, stopping St. Charles 28-21 in Week eight and beating Lake 37-13 in week nine.
