Poland Seminary wins DII semifinal in 7th; Perry game starts at 3:30
A bases-loaded error on a force play at home plate with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Poland Seminary a 5-4 win over New Concord John Glenn in the Division II state softball semifinal at Firestone Stadium.
A solo home run by Jenna Modic of Poland Seminary in the bottom of the third inning give the Bulldogs 1-0 lead over New Concord John Glenn after four innings.
New Concord John Glenn (27-4) with four runs in the top of the fifth inning thanks to a pair of Bulldog errors, RBI singles by Trish Klass and Jenn Shingary and a suicide bunt single RBI by Lindsay Buchanan.
The Bulldogs tied it with three in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a two-run error on a play to home and an RBI ground out to second by Nicole White.
Poland Seminary (30-1) will play last year's Division III champion Hebron Lakewood (28-5), whioch defeated Greenville also 5-4 in the earlier Division II semifinal, 10 a.m. Saturday at Firestone.
Perry and Holland Springfield play the Division I semifinal about 3:30, a half hour later than scheduled due to earlier rains.
