Ohio State University senior softball player Courtney Pruner recently earned a Big Ten Player of the Week honor after she went 6-for-7 at bat with seven RBI and three runs scored in a two-game series split with Illinois in Champaign.
Pruner, an Ellet High School graduate, hit two home runs, including a grand slam in Ohio State's 10-2 victory in game two of the series Sunday. She also made a critical diving catch in right field in the bottom of the second inning to limit the Illini to just one run in game two.
Pruner has a .356 batting average (36-for-101) with eight home runs and 30 RBI.
The Buckeyes (24-11, 3-1 Big Ten) are ranked No. 20 nationally and have 14 games remaining on the regular season schedule before the NCAA Tournament.
Pruner, a two-time captain and that has overcome two hip surgeries, currently ranks third in the Buckeyes all-time career list for home runs (34) and RBI (131).
