Recruiting roundup: St. V-M's Booker highly rated
St. Vincent-St. Mary linebacker Dante Booker is rated the state’s No. 1 player in the 2014 class, according to Rivals.com. Booker, who is listed at 6 feet 3 and 210 pounds, reportedly has offers from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State and Penn State.
The University of Akron is showing interest in Amelia senior forward Anthony Clark, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Clark, one of the Cincinnati area’s top soccer players in the 2013 class, also has interest from Louisville, Marshall and Wake Forest.

Fox Sports Ohio to air two area high school football games this fall
Fox Sports Ohio’s High School Football Game of the Week series will return in 2012 to air seven key games throughout the season, all on Thursday night broadcasts.
Buchtel and Massillon will kick off this year’s coverage on August 23 at 7:30 p.m. On October 4, FSO will air a marquee Federal League match-up between McKinley and GlenOak at 7 p.m. Both games will air on the main Fox Sports Ohio channel and will be simulcasted on FoxSportsOhio.com.

Highland names Michael Murphy as boys basketball coach
Michael Murphy is staying at Highland but will leave the girls program to coach the boys, according to a press release from Highland Local Schools.
Last season, Murphy led the girls to a 15-8 record and the program’s first sectional title since 2002. Before that, he coached Copley to a 63-28 record over five seasons.

Copley's Turner healthy, mulling college options
Copley senior-to-be Aregeros Turner II continues to round into shape as the start of the high school football season quickly approaches.
Turner suffered a broken right leg last season in a game against Green on Oct. 14. He said Tuesday he will be ready to play this season for the Indians as a running back, wide receiver and defensive back.

Recruiting roundup: Aquinas' Rich to Boston College; area players add offers
• St. Thomas Aquinas senior defensive end Joel Rich verbally committed to Boston College on June 30, according to ESPN.com.
Rich, who is 6 feet 5 and 230 pounds, also had an offer from Buffalo, according to ESPN. Rich is one of the area’s top players in the 2013 class.
