Revere's Bettinger and Edel make college choices
Revere coach Dean Rahas said seniors DJ Bettinger and Connor Edel have made their college selections to continue their basketball and academic careers.
Bettinger is headed to Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind. and Edel is bound for Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
``I am very proud that they are able to continue their athletic and academic carrers at the next level,´´ Rahas said. ``We expect them to be very successful both on and off the court.
``Indiana Wesleyan has been in the Elite Eight in four out of the past five years. They are one of the top NAIA schools in the country and DJ is looking forward to playing there. For Connor, this is a great opportunity. He plans to major in engineering and they are one of the top engineering schools in the country. And they have a great basketall program too.´´
Bettinger and Edel helped the Minutemen to a Division I district final in each of the past two seasons. Revere went 21-2 this season, and over the past two seasons posted a 40-6 overall record and a 28-0 mark in the Surbuban League.
Bettinger, a 6-foot-1 and 160-pound point guard, averaged 14 points, five assists and two steals per game as a senior.
Edel, a 6-foot-8 and 215-pound forward, contributed seven points and five rebounds per game.
``Connor and DJ are both very strong academically,´´ Rahas said. ``Connor has a 3.9 grade point average and DJ has a 3.5 gpa.´´
