Marissa Rossetti, a 2013 St. Vincent-St. Mary graduate, will continue running at the University of Toledo.
Rossetti is going to run cross country and compete in track and field for the Rockets after a standout career with the Irish.
“I am really excited,” Rossetti said. “This is a very good opportunity for me. I want to get better, and I think Toledo is a great fit for me.”
Rossetti helped St. V-M win four consecutive Division II team state titles. She finished eighth individually as a junior and ninth as a senior.
As a junior, she helped the Irish girls win the Division II track team championship and ran on the 3,200-meter relay that won a state title. As a senior, she helped the Irish place second in the 3,200 relay and sixth in the 1,600 relay, and she was fourth in the 1,600.
“Marissa Rossetti is the absolute epitome of your silent superstar,” St. V-M cross country and track and field coach Dan Lancianese said. “She is loyal to a fault, in that she will sacrifice for the sake of the team. She sacrifices her potential ability to help younger runners pace themselves and run better.
“I think her career will take off at Toledo. She has a record that no one else can match, in that she has won four state titles [with her teammates in cross country]. Others can do that, but they can’t top that.”
