Tennis showdown today between Copley & Highland

The Copley and Highland boys tennis teams will square off at 4 today indoors at the Paramount Tennis Club in Medina.

The teams have established themselves as the top teams in the Suburban League.

The Indians (13-1, 6-0) feature senior Jarad Pennington, junior Andrew Ong and senior Alan Du in singles play. The doubles units are comprised of brothers senior Austin Aten and freshman Gavin Aten, and junior twins Matt Adzema and Nick Adzema.

Coach Mark Ullman said Copley won the Medina Invitational Doubles Tournament on Saturday with 29 points. Cleveland St. Ignatius and Revere placed second and third. Highland, Ashland, Strongsville, Lakewood St. Edward and Medina also participated in the eight-team event.

The Hornets (10-2, 6-0) are coached by Lisa Reynolds and boast senior Steve Smykal, junior Michael Hutchings and sophomore Joshua Hadler in singles play. Senior Logan Gsellman and junior Vince Luth are doubles players along with Michael Joyce and freshman Ben Kelly.
