Two Rough Riders athletes sign
Kent Roosevelt seniors Abigail Wemhoff and Shayla Purnell have signed to continue their academic and athletic careers in college, Roosevelt’s Student Activities Coordinator Heidi Myers said.
Wemhoff is set to play basketball for the University of Mount Union and Purnell will play softball for Lakeland Community College.
Wemhoff lettered three times in basketball, was a two-year captain, earned the Portage Trail Conference Scholar Athlete Award all four years and was Roosevelt’s Most Valuable Player as a senior.
Purnell, a shortstop, has been a key batter in the middle of the Rough Riders order with an average over .300.
