Wadsworth, Highland plan event to raise money for ALS

By Michael Beaven Published: May 6, 2014

Retired Medina County administrator Bruce Lorincz said host Wadsworth and Highland will raise money Wednesday to donate to the ALS Association Northern Ohio Chapter when the school’s baseball teams meet at 4:30 p.m.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. It is commonly called Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Gehrig, a baseball legend with the New York Yankees, passed from ALS in 1941.

Wadsworth is a hot team in the Suburban League following its two five-inning victories over Tallmadge, 14-1 and 12-1. Pitchers Nick Bebout and Eric Perebzak both got a win. Alex Laikos, Will Rock, Mason Egleston, Greg Young, Kyle Pennington, Riley Campbell and A.J. Robinson led the Grizzlies offense to 21 hits between the two games.
