Waynedale challenges to defend Division III state wrestling title
Delta held the lead in the Division III team standings following Day One of the state wrestling tournament with 16.5 points Thursday at Value City Arena at Schottenstein Center in front of 11,084 fans.
Waynedale, the Division III state champion last year, is fourth at 12.5 points.
Waynedale senior Zack Nelson (55-0, 126), Waterloo senior J.J. Diven (47-0, 138), Norwayne sophomore Kollin Moore (53-0, 152) and Sandy Valley senior Sam Groff (54-0) all kept their records perfect with opening round victories.
Manchester junior Jacob Hanzel won his match at 285.
They are all three wins away from winning a state title Saturday.
