Updates from Boys State Tennis; North Canton Hoover ousted
Both of North Canton Hoover's double teams lost in the first round Friday. Juniors Rob DeMarco and Mike O'Connor lost to Mason 6-1, 6-0 and the team of senior Tyler Sarver and sophomore Tim Bruin lost to Upper Arlington 6-2, 6-0. Hoover coach Ryan Shaffer talked about his young squad being pushed into starting roles after graduating five seniors from last year's team.
"It was kinda unexpected, truthfully," Shaffer said of his teams making it to the state tournament. "All of these guys moved up in positions that were very challenging for them. For them to ultimately break through and mesh like they did at the end of the year and make the state tournament is a tremendous accomplishment. Going forward, we have some things to look forward to."
