Beacon Journal staff report
Newark-based specialty basket maker Longaberger Co. will close its Hartville-based wood-processing facility by the end of November and consolidate some of those operations into its basket-making facility in Frazeysburg.
The 30 Hartville employees will be offered work in Frazeysburg, the company said. Frazeysburg is about 90 miles south of Hartville, and about 40 miles east of Columbus.
Longaberger is upgrading its Frazeysburg factory to make it more energy efficient and environmentally friendly while allowing the company to make a broader range of colors and designs for its baskets, the company said.
Longaberger said it is working with various log processing companies and Hartville area officials to find a future use for the Hartville facility.

Maybe people realized they were paying a Fortune for a wooden basket.... Longaberger will go the way of the beenie baby and the pog.
Hey May , what is a Pog?
Dont you remember those little buttons the kids used to trade and pay for. They had little characters on them. For a while they were worth money. Now nothing. Or like the pokemon cards. For a while they were worth money now they cant give them away.
I disagree. Longaberger was established in 1896; pogs and beanie babies were around for 2-3 years max. I don't think that is an accurate comparison.
Thanx for clearing that up for me May.
the Longaberger baskets are worth more money today that the day you buy it Remember these are hand made here in OH USA not some overseas country that makes cheap ones.
