An executive at Wendy's says the hamburger chain is revamping its breakfast menu.
Roland Smith, CEO of Wendy's/Arby's Group Inc., made the comments Tuesday at the seventh Cowen & Co. Consumer Conference in New York.
Smith said Wendy's current breakfast products haven't resonated with consumers andaren't ''high quality.'' He did not offer any details about the makeup of the breakfast menu.
Smith said the company will test the new menu in Pittsburgh, Kansas City and Phoenix and will enlarge its testing area before launching the menu nationwide in 2011.
Wendy's International Inc. is based in the Columbus suburb of Dublin. It was purchased last year by Atlanta-based Triarc Cos. Inc.
Smith said the company is on track to cut $60 million in costs companywide over three years. Some of that will be in the form of layoffs.
