Oprah Winfrey is nearing a decision on whether to continue her daily television talk show on broadcast channels or move it to the forthcoming cable channel she co-owns with Discovery Communications, executives from her production company and CBS Corp., which owns the rights to the show, said.
The decision had been expected before the end of the year. Winfrey, who in the past has taken advantage of speculation about possibly leaving her show in order to enhance renewals, is also negotiating with syndicators other than CBS, reports said.
CBS does not expect to know the outcome of negotiations with Winfrey ''for a few months.''
The Web site Deadline Hollywood Daily reported Winfrey was within days of deciding to move to the new ''OWN'' cable channel, The Oprah Winfrey Network.
The start date for the joint venture between Winfrey and Discovery has been pushed back several times.
