Proximity Marketing

Proximity Marketing, a Web marketing company based in Brunswick, acquired Akron-based social media companies Christy Creative and Eat Drink Promote. Christy Creative, founded by Shon Christy, offers services to a variety of clients. Eat Drink Promote has gained partnerships with the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA), International Food Show, National Pizza and Ice Cream Show and the Western Food Show in Los Angeles.

The chairman, president and CEO of FirstMerit Corp. was elected to the board of directors of the American Bankers Association. ABA’s board is the association’s governing body made up of CEOs from banks of all sizes. ABA represents the nation’s $14 trillion banking industry and 2 million employees. The association provides educational benefits and programs for its members, represents the industry in Washington, D.C., and speaks on behalf of the industry in the media.

David M. Coleman, CIC, CPCU

The recently retired president of David M. Coleman Insurance Agency in Kent received a Lifetime Achievement Award at Professional Independent Agents Association of Ohio, Inc.’s (PIAA) agency management conference.

Jason Sypolt

The senior Web programmer at Innis Maggiore advertising agency earned a Magento Certified Developer Plus achievement. Magento is one of the primary offerings within what is called the X.commerce platform owned by online auction sales site eBay. The online retail industry says more than 200,000 online stores use Magento for their e-commerce platform.

Richard Nagy

Copley Township mason Richard Nagy received the Craft Award for Outstanding Union Service from the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft workers in September.

Nagy, a 56-year member of the BAC Local 7, was honored for his commitment to the union and for helping others learning the trades. Nagy was a union contractor and masonry instructor at Maplewood Career Center. When he retired, he continued to mentor high school students and Local 7 apprentices. He is an avid collector of named bricks and has compiled an extensive collection of historical masonry memorabilia. The bricklayers union is the oldest union in North America and represents about 90,000 skilled masonry-trowel trades craftworkers in the United States and Canada.
