Caulk maker seals deal to move to Massillon

By Katie Byard
Beacon Journal business writer

In fewer than four years, caulking and sealant manufacturer Premier Industrial Supply Inc. has grown from a tiny operation to an enterprise set to break ground on its own 90,000-square-foot facility to house nearly 70 employees.

Premier Industrial plans to move from leased space in Jackson Township to the new site in Massillon sometime this August, said Derek J. Miller, company owner and founder.

Miller said he wanted to keep the business in the Stark County area, where most of his employees live. The company was considering building in Jackson, and then Miller spotted the land in Massillon.

“Massillon stepped up to the plate and offered us a grant — a tax incentive — and it was a no-brainer,” Miller said.

The city plans to credit the company an amount equal to a percentage of payroll taxes.

The new facility will be built at a nine-acre site, off state Route 21, north of U.S. Route 30, that the company purchased last year. Miller said construction should begin later this month and the site has room for expansion.

The caulk and sealant maker, now at 4282 Strausser St. NW in Jackson, near Interstate 77, is seeing growth as it expands its product line and as competitors get bought by larger companies.
