Where to complain

Here's contact information for consumer agencies:

Ohio attorney general: 877-AG4OHIO (877-244-6446) is a new number for the office. It's designed to be a one-stop shop whether you need to file a complaint, want to find out about your consumer rights on a particular issue or check on whether a business you're thinking about using has had any complaints. You can also find the information and file a complaint online at http://www.ag.state.oh.us

If you want to search the office's database on businesses, go to ''Consumer Protection'' on the left side of the home page, and ''Search Business Names for Complaints'' on the right side. Within the next few weeks, the agency expects to have this information at its new consumer Web site, http://www.ag4Ohio.gov

Area Better Business Bureau: The BBB that covers Ashland, Medina, Portage, Richland, Summit and Wayne counties can be reached at http://www.akronbbb.org or 330-253-4590. The bureau that serves Canton and Stark County is http://www.cantonbbb.org or 330-454-9401. The BBB is a good place to check on a company's complaint history before you hire.

Summit County Office of Consumer Affairs: This office will help you with your complaints if you live in Summit County or have done business with a company in the county. Reach the office at http://www.co.summit.oh.us/conaffairs.htm or 330-643-2879. Betty Lin-Fisher
