Buehler’s has joined area grocers who reward customers with gasoline discounts.
The Wooster-based food retailer said Wednesday that seven of its locations — Brunswick, Wadsworth, Portage Lakes, Canton, Delaware and two Medina stores — would offer shoppers a choice of food or fuel discounts.
The company said it is the only grocer in Ohio “to give customers a choice on how they redeem their Buehler’s Rewards electronically.”
Fuel rewards can be redeemed through a partnership with Speedway gasoline stores.
“We wanted to make it very easy for our customers that choose to use their Buehler’s Rewards for fuel discounts,” said Dan Shanahan, Buehler’s Chief Operating Officer, in a news release.
Speedway has 1,400 locations.
Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle has a program called Fuel Perks that can be redeemed at its GetGo locations. And Akron-based Acme Fresh Market offers Fuel Rewards at Circle K stores.
Buehler’s customers will also earn Speedy Rewards points on a Speedway rewards card.
Buehler’s Rewards can be used for food or fuel discounts when the customer follows a one-time, on-line process of linking a Buehler’s Advantage Card to a Speedy Rewards Card. Buehler’s website says customers earn 10 cents off per gallon of fuel at Speedway for every $60 spent at Buehler’s.
Customers who want to redeem their points for food can get $1 off for every $50 spent at Buehler’s, redeemable in $10 increments.
