WHAT’S NEXT FOR ACME

West Akron and Medina are next for Acme Fresh Market upgrades.

The grocer and its real estate development unit, Albrecht Inc., disclosed plans for those locations while discussing a remodeling of their State Road store in Cuyahoga Falls.

Last week, the grocer announced it would build its first new store in 20 years in Green along Massillon Road. That store is slated to be constructed in 2013.

Acme President Steve Albrecht said Monday that a new store is still planned for Medina. Albrecht Inc. owns land that has been rezoned on the northwest corner of state Route 3 and Highpoint Drive. “We are slowly chipping away at the infrastructure improvements,” said Albrecht.

He hopes to have that store, which would be the first Acme in Medina County, open by 2014. Then will come a remodeling project at Acme No. 1 in West Akron on West Market Street, Albrecht said. No timeline is set for that renovation.
