Small-business nominations sought for award

The U.S. Small Business Administration is seeking nominations from the public for “exceptional entrepreneurs.”

Small-business owners and entrepreneurs are to be honored with various awards during the next National Small Business Week.

To submit nominations, go online to: http://nationalsmallbusinessweek.sba.gov/user.

The awards include:

• Small Business Person of the Year Awards;

• Small Business Exporter of the Year;

• Phoenix Award for Small Business Disaster Recovery;

• Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award;

• Veterans Business Outreach Center Excellence in Service Award, and

• The Women’s Business Center of Excellence Award.

Nominations can be sent to SBA district offices. Addresses are available online at www.sba.gov/districtoffices.

Deadline for entry is Jan. 17, 2014.

All nominations must be submitted online, postmarked or hand delivered to the SBA no later than the end of the day Jan. 17, 2014.

Winners of the Small Business Person of the Year award and other award categories will be invited to Washington, D.C., in 2014 to compete for national titles and to attend National Small Business Week events.
