Cellar Dweller Brewery is already expanding. The brewery, located at Valley Vineyards in Morrow, opened last year and is one of the few winery-breweries in Ohio. Cellar Dweller is upgrading to a five-barrel brewhouse and adding four 10-barrel fermenters and other equipment.
The brewery also is building a 3,500-square-foot addition, and has added an outdoor beer garden and taproom. It's all because of the demand from craft beer drinkers, brewer Steve Shaw said.
"We are about five times over our projected numbers for the first seven months," he said. "We are also experiencing growth on our weekly beer dinners by about 20 percent. The brewery is doing really well."
The expansion will allow Cellar Dweller to grow its distribution, hopefully starting in April. "We will be in bottles and kegs in the Cincinnati and Dayton area," Shaw said. "With the growth, we will be expanding into more bars and retail locations."
You can find Cellar Dweller now on draft at Bunker's Sports Bar & Grill in Vandalia, in bottles and on draft at Village Wine Cellars in Lebanon, and on the growler station at Arrow Wine & Spirits in Dayton.
Asked about the brewery's best-selling beer, Shaw said three of the nine Cellar Dweller beers compete for that top honor. "Copperhead APA. It is our flagship brew. It is a great, easy drinking pale ale. Nice citrus and floral aroma. Great body and taste. We also have a dry Irish stout we call LookOut and our kolsch We Cellar Blues."
Meanwhile, the brewery will hold a "Cellar Dweller Craft Beers -- Beer Grand Tasting" from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Jan. 23. The event will feature tastings of all the Cellar Dweller beers and guest brewer Kevin Moreland from Triple Digit Brewing Co. in Cincinnati pouring one of his beers. Tickets are $20. In addition to beer, the tasting will include grilled sausages, hot potato salad, sauerkraut, soft pretzels, cheeses and live music. To make a reservation, call 513-899-2485.
Beer tastings also are scheduled for Feb. 27 and March 27.
